Painless Grammar-great as a resource, fun for kids
Diagramming Sentences- booklets on diagramming
Easy Grammar-starts with prepositions then teaches student the parts that are
left in a sentence.
Spelling
-Notes:
Activities for Spelling by Teacher Created Material-does not give the
spelling words but gives fun ways to practice spelling words
All About Spelling-great for early elementary or struggling spellers. Starts
with phonic and then teaches the rules. It does have a reading program you can
buy to go with it. Our moms gave it great reviews
Click N' Kids Phonics- online website
AVKO- also got a good review from one of our moms. Taught with words building
off of each other.
ACSI-workbook bases- Gives lists and focuses on sounds. It goes up to the 6th
grade
Vocabulary for Classical Roots- recommended for grades 4-11
English from the Roots up- Book
Abeka- gives spelling and vocabulary words. Focus on rules
Charlotte Mason-based on copy work
Phonetic Zoo-Institute for Excellence in Writing- gives lists. Student tries
to spell and they keep taking the test until they get 100% twice. Not
recommended for the beginner speller.
Mathematics

- Life of Fred
History
-Notes:
My Father's World-includes history, science, art, and math
Story of the World- starts with ancient civilization and goes up through.Easy
to read. Recommended that you purchase the activity book with it that hassome
great printables and activities along with recommended additional reading.Also
can purchase this curriculum on CD. Check to see if your library has itbefore
buying the CDs.
Ancient Civilization of the Bible-set up with 9 topice, focusing for 4weeks
per topic. It maybe a little advanced for elementary but great for middle school
age.
Tapesty of Grace-Good for using the same curriculum for several ages. It
isnot very structured but has some great ideas.
Liberty Kids-highly recommended computer game that takes you through ajourney
of the Revolutionary war.
Other good history games: Lois & Clark Bingo, Made for Trade
Totally Irresponsible Science by Shawn Connolly
Also talked about:
Flat Stanley-Check out their website. This is a fun free project where you
sendand recieve paper 'exchange student' from all over the world. Really fun
forthe kids and interesting for all.
Which Way USA-through Highlights, focuses on one state at a time. Find outthe
mystery through a series of puzzle/brain teasers. Fairly inexpensive
Science

Here are some other science curriculums we talked about:
Apologia-Wonderfully, Biblically based curriculum. You purchase the bookand
it has everything you need. There are experiments to go with every chapter.The
author is great about using experiments that uses household items. It isvery in
depth and may go over the heads of young students but there issomething for all
ages to retain.
Answers in Genesis-This has short lessons with an experiment and review
questions.
We also talked a lot about 4H and the science lessons through that. Thereare
several that would be interested in being part of a 4H group should anyonedecide
they would like to lead one.
